On February 8, the Institute for Intellectual Property and Market Law (IFIM) will organize The Year of the COVID vaccines conference. Speakers will discuss the key regulatory and legal aspects surrounding the COVID-19 vaccines. Participation to the event is free, but registration is required.
On February 10, Assimilate IP will offer a free webinar on IP Essentials for Start-Ups and SMEs. The Bournemouth University and the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy and Management (CIPPM) will hold a series of online public lectures, starting with a lecture by Pamela Samuelson on “Convergent and Divergent EU and US Approaches to Intermediary Liability for Copyright Infringement”, to be held on February 17. Other lectures in the series will cover AI content filters, and Standard Essential Patents and FRAND licensing. Participation is free of charge and the full list of lectures is available here.
On February 19, Berkeley Law (University of California) is organizing the “Design Patents Symposium: Navigating and Rectifying the Design Patent Muddle”. Consult the event page for the agenda and registration details.
On February 25, the EPO will conduct the “High-growth technology business forum: Focus on Europe”, dedicated to the SME perspective on intellectual property. The programme is available following the link. Registration is free of charge and open until February 18.
On March 3, the University of Nottingham will hold a webinar on the latest developments in copyright exhaustion under EU law. Participation is free of charge and the event will be organized through MS Teams.

Vacancies
The European Public Law Organization (EPLO) is calling for experts on intellectual property for the project: “EU Support to Intellectual Property Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. Two positions are open: team leader and key expert. More details are available following the link and the CVs should be submitted as soon as possible.
The Dickson Poon School of Law, Kings College London is seeking to appoint a lecturer in intellectual property and information law. Closing date for the vacancy is March 16, 2021 and interviews will be held in April.
A post-doctoral research position is open at the Institute of Economics in Sant’ Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. The research will deal with comparative analysis of creative industries operating in negative IP spaces. The pplication deadline is February 11, 2021.

The Singapore Ministry of Law and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore have launched a public consultation to seek feedback on the draft Copyright Bill. Interested stakeholders are invited to provide their feedback on operational and implementation issues, as well as legal clarity, language, structure, before April 1, 2021. Feedback shall be submitted via the online forms accessible here or via email to [email protected] with the subject or header “Feedback on Copyright Bill Consultation Paper”.
The Modern Law Review will conduct, in October 2021, a one-day conference with the theme “Are We Owned? A Multidisciplinary and Comparative Conversation on Intellectual Property in the Algorithmic Society”. The organisers have opened a call for abstracts from interested speakers. A three hundred-word abstract on any topic related to IP in the algorithmic society should be submitted by March 1, 2021.
