ALAI Canada Conference
In conversation with William Patry” (9 December 2021)

On December 9, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Montreal time), the new ALAI Canada Conference will be held on Zoom. The panel will include two panellists: Mr William Patry (Google) and Mtre Andrea Rush (Blaney McMurtry LLP). William Patry studied music and then law. His law degree led him to various professional positions in the United States, where he is now Senior Copyright Counsel at Google. The panel discussion will be moderated by Professor Ysolde Gendreau (Université de Montréal).

Copyright 2030 – “The Future of the Creative Ecosystem in Europe” (9 December 2021)

CIPLITEC’s interdisciplinary group of leading academics is organizing an online event on 9 December 2021 from 17:30 to 19:30 (CET). The initiative is entitled “Copyright Law 2030 – A memorandum on the future of the creative ecosystem in Europe“. You can find the memorandum here in both the original German version and an English translation.

During the event, Professor Katharina de la Durantaye and Professor Michael Grünberger, two of the initiators of the project, will present the background, aims and main theses of the memorandum. The presentation will be followed by comments from Professor Agnès Lucas-Schloetter and Professor Ansgar Ohly. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the concluding discussion. The discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr Matthias Leistner (LMU Munich).

ATRIP 40th Annual Congress and call for paper proposals
IPR in Times of Crisis: Lessons Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic” (20-23 June 2022)

ATRIP is holding its 40th Annual Congress. The theme of the congress is “IPR in Times of Crisis: Lessons Learned from the COVID -19 Pandemic“. It is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen, Denmark, from 20 to 23 June 2022. However, due to the uncertainties created by the ongoing pandemic, the exact format of the conference will not be announced until early 2022. Members of ATRIP are invited to submit proposals for papers on these topics in all areas of IP law. Abstracts should be sent to the President of ATRIP, Prof. Jens Schovsbo, at the following address: [email protected] no later than 1 February 2022

The Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (CITMA) has recently advertised a new IP job vacancy. The company Gunnercooke is looking for an IP Paralegal in a permanent role. Gunnercooke is a corporate and commercial law established in 2010 and now has over 260 partners. The role is based in London (West End).

University College London | CPD Courses for Winter & Spring 2022

UCL’s Institute of Brand and Innovation Law is delighted to present its online courses for Winter & Spring 2022. Two IP-related courses will be offered for the next year.

The online course “Drafting and negotiating IP terms in research contracts” will be held on January 18-19 and June 7-8, 2022. More information can be found here.
