Conferences and events

History of copyright 

The University of Glasgow’s Advanced Research Centre will host a conference on copyright history, which will also be a celebration of fifteen years of Primary Sources on Copyright (1450-1900), the digital archive edited by Lionel Bently and Martin Kretschmer. The event will be held on a hybrid basis, on 16 and 17 October 2023.

The participants (including speakers) will be charting the development of the digital archive, launching new material and looking at the future of this tool.

Deepfakes conference & call for papers

City, University of London (in collaboration with the University of Leeds) is hosting a 1-day conference on ‘Deepfakes and the Law’ on Monday, 20 May 2024 at its Northampton Square campus, London.

The aim is to explore the existing and potential relationships between deepfake technologies and the law, to draw an expertise on both legal and non-legal in an interdisciplinary fashion.

Scheduled panels include:

  • “Deepfakes, Image-Based Abuse & Consent”,
  • “Deepfakes, Disinformation & Truth”,
  • two open panels where the organizers particularly invite papers on IP-related issues,
  • a round-table discussion session open to post-graduate or early-career researchers, which will also be on an “open” theme.

24th Annual Burrell Lecture and Dinner 


The 24th Annual Burrell Lecture and Dinner, organized by the Competition Law Association, will take place on Thursday 30 November 2023 at The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in London.

This year’s speaker will be Lord Justice Birss, delivering a speech on the topic: “Is a focus on data the way to improve access to justice in a multi-faceted world?”. The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception and dinner. As usual, the event will be attended by a number of guests from the antitrust and IP worlds.

Opportunity

Moroccan-Swiss Intellectual Property Project

A project Associate for the Moroccan-Swiss Intellectual Property Project („MSIPP“) is wanted. MSIPP is an international cooperation project with the goal of „contributing to entrepreneurs, creators, researchers and producers in Morocco benefitting from effective intellectual property protection”. The project is funded by the SECO Wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklungof Switzerland and implemented by the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property. 
The position offers engaging and diversified work in technical cooperation with national and international partners and experts. The successful candidate will be in charge of the day-to-day implementation, on the ground coordination and administration of the MSIPP.
