Seminar ‘From the Batmobile to Mickey Mouse via Pippi Longstocking’.
City, University of London will hold the seminar ‘From the Batmobile to Mickey Mouse via Pippi Longstocking’ on 14 February 2024. PermaKat Eleonora Rosati will address how IP rights protect fictional characters through several case law examples, aiming to “answer whether, in the end, the only fictional thing is the notion of public domain”. Retromark: the conference is back!
The conference will take place on 7 May 2024 at the Moorgate offices of Simmons & Simmons in association with The IPKat. Allan James, Senior Hearing Officer at the UK IPO, will give the keynote speech. The full agenda will be announced in due course.
Registration is open for the 2024 INTA Annual Meeting.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) will hold its Annual Meeting from 18 to 22 May 2024. The event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia. As usual, workshops and networking sessions will be available. Further details here.

Call for papers: Prof. Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka Prize
The Jerzy Wiszniewski Foundation has launched an international competition for the Professor Irena Wiszniewska-Białecka Prize, which will be awarded to an outstanding scholarly work (master’s thesis, doctoral or post-doctoral dissertation, monograph, or other work) in the field of trade marks, competition or antitrust Law published or defended after 11 April 2019. The prize consists of USD 20,000. More information here and here.
