TM5 meeting took place in China

The 5th Annual Trade Mark 5 (TM5) meeting took place in Kunshan, China, on 28-29 October.

TM5 is the name given to the multilateral forum of the five largest trade mark offices in the world, which includes EUIPO, the United States Patent and Trademark office (USPTO), the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO)  and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (SAIC). 

Together the five offices are responsible for 60% of the world’s internationally filed trade marks.

The two day meeting involved trade mark sessions on the Partners’ respective leading projects.  

Among 13 on-going projects, EUIPO reported on the current status of “Common Statistical Indicators”, “User-friendly Access to Trade Mark Information (TMview),” “Taxonomy and TMclass link” and “User involvement” projects.

Furthermore, the TM5 Partner Offices support the continuation of Search Image project and EUIPO will continue to work closely with SAIC to progress with their integration into TMview.

A question and answer session open to User Associations from the five Partner Offices took place on the second day.
