Conferences, webinars 

On December 8, the University of Strasbourg will hold a webinar on “Legal aspects of the gaming universe”. The participants willinter alia discuss IP implications of game mods for gameplay changes. The participation is free of charge. 
On December 15, the EUIPO Academy will deliver a webinar on recent decisions of the EUIPO Boards of Appeal. At the webinar, the relevant caselaw of the BoA during the fourth quarter of 2020 will be discussed. 
Vacancies 
The European University Institute has now opened a call for 150 fully-funded PhD scholarships in various fields of sciences, including law. The call for applications is open until 31 January 2021. Similarly, the University of Copenhagen has opened fully-funded PhD vacancies at the Faculty of Law. The closing date is January 21. Other 
As the follow-up to the “Strengthening Geographical Indications” conference, held in November, the European Commission has now published Inception Impact Assessment (IIA) on GI protection at EU level for non-agricultural products. The IIA is open for feedback until 28 December 2020.

The UKIPO has announced that its internal and external services for both trade marks and designs will be disrupted from 11 pm 31 December 2020 to 1 pm 4 January 2021. This is due to a planned system maintenance, as part of the UK’s leaving the European Union.
